No two learner drivers are the same, and so our Intensive Driving Courses have to be designed to meet individual needs.

As a rough guide, you will need to have around 40 hours of supervised driving experience before you are ready to meet the demands of the UK's busy roads, but this is very much an average, and is a basic guideline recommended as a minimum by the Driving Standards Agency.

The best way to determine what level of tuition you will need is to have an assessment lesson with the instructor who will be working with you to obtain your full licence. If you have already had a lot of prior experience, an hour's assessment should be sufficient, but if you are a less advanced pupil, 1.5 hours or 2 hours would give the opportunity to gain a better view of the standard you are starting off from, and therefore how many more hours are needed.

Flexible, Intense Courses

Our Intensive Courses are very flexible, and in most cases can be conducted according to your preference and availability. A 25 hour course for example can be arranged to run between Monday and Friday (5 hours per day), but equally can be spread over a greater number of days with between 2 and 4 hours in each driving session.

We are always happy to discuss any proposals for how you would want your course set out, and will meet your request as far as possible.

Courses can sometimes be arranged over a weekend, or consecutive weekends, so minimising the time you take off work. Please advise us of your preference at the time of booking. And don't forget to specify from the start if you prefer to learn in an automatic.

Your rapid progress towards exchanging the Provisional Drivers' Licence for a Full Driver's Licence is our main aim.

No two drivers are the same and so we feel it is important to provide you with the undivided attention of one of our expert team of fully qualified instructors, who will guide you through all the steps to acquiring all the necessary skills, from basic car handling to confidently managing the complexities of roundabouts. All driving manoeuvres are covered - but you will only be asked to do one of these on your test - i.e. forward bay parking and reversing out, pulling up on the right-hand side of the road and reversing 2 car lengths, and reverse bay parking. However it is important to ensure that you are proficient in all these skills, as they inevitably will be needed from time to time!

Not all driving schools specify one to one tuition, but with FastrackPass you can be assured of individual training so that tuition is focused on your driving needs. Feel free to ask questions, or to ask if you would like to go over any elements of the driving that you feel less confident on.

Remember that your instructor is working with you to ensure that when you pass your test, you will be fully prepared for going out on the road on your own. You and your instructor are a team.

It takes your motivation and your instructor's experience and dedication, to turn you into a driver!

A fully qualified instructor (Approved Driving Instructor) is someone who is registered with the Driving Standards Agency as having passed rigorous DSA examinations in driving theory, advanced motoring and in teaching ability.

He/she will have had a CRB check (Criminal Records check). Each qualified instructor must display a green octagonal badge on the windscreen of their tuition vehicle. Furthermore every ADI is checked periodically by a DSA Supervising Examiner for continued quality of teaching. Note that if you see a pink triangular badge in a driving school car windscreen it means this is a trainee instructor, (PDI) and whilst they may be offering cheaper lessons, they will not have the expertise of a fully qualified driving instructor (ADI)

At Fastrackpass we have fully compliant Approved Driving Instructors only, all of whom have years of experience in teaching people to drive. Our Intensive Driving Courses are offered in most areas of the country, with each instructor having local knowledge so as to be able to help the pupil to familiarise with the general area in which he/she will be sitting the driving test. This doesn't mean teaching just test routes - the aim is to enable each pupil to be prepared to meet the demands of our busy UK roads with confidence, with a structured course including all the manoeuvres, how to deal with roundabouts, dual carriageways, both urban and rural roads.

Tuition is in a suitable dual controlled car which is comprehensively insured.

If you want to learn in an automatic car rather than a manually geared car, please be sure to mention this when you enquire about our courses, as automatic tuition is available in selected areas only.

Automatic tuition is available in some centres - please do contact us to check availability if you should prefer to go for automatic.

Automatic versus Manual - for's and against's

Isn't it easier to learn in an automatic? - Yes, in so far as you will not need to master the co-ordination of pedals to the same degree, and of course an automatic selects the gear that is needed for the job so you don't have to think about it other than in pre-selecting a gear in certain circumstances.

In the UK, manual cars far outnumber automatics - partly because automatics are more expensive to buy and consume more fuel. Also don't forget that if you pass your test in a manual, you are entitled to drive an automatic, but passing in an automatic requires you to sit another test in order to be able to drive a manual.

So unless you have a specific need to choose automatic, you will have more flexibility if you learn to drive a manual geared car.

Please note that we charge £2 per hour extra for Automatic tuition, but of course you will probably need fewer lessons overall.

FastrackPass Crash Courses (Intensive Driving Courses) are available in hundreds of locations throughout the UK.

Check out our Locations Page for lists of the areas that we cover, but if you’re not sure if yours is included, please telephone or email Kate with your post code, and we’ll let you know whether we can pick up from home.

Do bear in mind that the Driving Test can only be conducted by a Driving Standards Agency Examiner, at an approved Driving Test Centre, and that this might be fairly close to where you live but it can also be as much as 30 miles from your home if you live in a more rural area. We will check out your nearest centre, and the dates available for a driving test there.

Driving test availability varies enormously, so that in certain test centres appointments may be available with only 2 - 3 days’ notice, whereas you could often find very much longer waiting times in the busier City driving test centres.

Need to sit your test urgently? We will check out availability in your nearby centres and if necessary compare with other areas, to be able to offer you a choice of dates.

We frequently manage to organise driving courses with the driving test at the end, with very little notice, especially if you have already passed your driving theory test.

So if you’re in a hurry - don’t worry - we’ll use our expertise to find you the right course at the right time, to enable you to get on with your life.

If you think you would prefer to learn to drive away from the distractions of home and work, or if you simply like the idea of combining your intensive driving course with a break, why not choose one of our more rural areas, or one of the seaside locations, and make it a Holiday Crash Course.

Holiday driving courses are available in Cornwall, Devon or Dorset; in Kent, Essex or Norfolk; Monmouthshire, Herefordshire or Anglesey; South Wales, Midlands or Scotland…. in fact most areas of the country!

We will help you find suitable accommodation of whatever grade you prefer, up to 5 star if you want to spoil yourself! For the more financially conscious learner driver there is a choice of Bed and Breakfast at Guest Houses or smaller hotels. You will be responsible for paying for your accommodation, and a deposit will be required at time of booking at many establishments.

However you wish to tackle your approach to learning to drive, there are choices to be made, so telephone us to discuss your preferences.

If you are in full time work with no holiday leave, finding space for the usual weekly intensive driving course may be difficult for you, BUT WE MAY BE ABLE TO ARRANGE WEEKEND TUITION, thereby minimising your need to take time off work.

Consecutive weekend tuition may enable you to manage with just half a day off in the week to take your test (and occasionally Saturday tests are available, so we will aim to get one of these for you!). With up to 5 hours in a working day (this is the optimum number of tuition hours), two weekends will enable you to achieve a 20 hour course.

Prefer to do your intensive course away from home? We have many locations to choose from, at seaside towns, or in more rural locations where you can enjoy some of the countryside after a day’s drive. Combining your crash course with a holiday makes for a more relaxed feel to the venture. Choose an area where you have friends or family to stay with, or let us help you find suitable accommodation to fit your pocket and/or style.

With so many locations on offer, and so much flexibility with our courses, there is an intensive ‘crash’ course to suit everyone! Telephone or email Kate now to discuss your requirements.

With so many ’scam’ test booking sites on the internet offering to book your driving theory test, or driving test, (at considerable extra cost), it is vital that you are aware that the only official booking site is the Government site…. www.gov.uk, where you can book a direct test slot rather than have to wait to hear what has been allocated you. Better still, let us do the work for you at no extra cost.

We will book your tests for you, ensuring that you have sufficient time to study for your theory, and that the driving instructor is going to be available to take you for your driving test at the end of your course. In other words, we will take care to provide a seamless package with everything arranged for your transition from Provisional Licence holder to Full Driver’s Licence holder, in as short a time as possible!

Current costs for tests: The Theory Test for car drivers is £23 and the practical Driving Test is £62.

We do not charge extra for booking these for you!
